PhD in Industrial Administration (Marketing) from the Tepper School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University (2011), Master in Operations Management (2002), and Industrial Engineer (2002), University of Chile. His research concentrates on developing applied statistical models to describe customer behavior and support decision-making. Although he has broad research interests, the focal areas of application of his work are retailing, database marketing, mobile and online marketing. At the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Chile, Marcel teaches undergraduate and MBA classes in marketing models, retailing, and channels. He also leads the Center of Retail Studies (CERET) and participates as an Invited Researcher at the Millenium Institute of Market Imperfections and Public Policy (MIPP). His research has been published in top marketing and management science journals such as Marketing Science, Management Science, and Operations Research. Among others, he has been awarded the ENRE Best Publication Award in Natural Resources and the Franz Edelman Award for Achievement in Advanced Analytics.
