About me

About me About me
I'm Industrial Engineer from University of Chile & PhD. on Information Engineering from University of Tokyo, Japan. I'm working as assistant professor at Industrial Engineering Department of University of Chile since April 2008.

I mainly work on Applied Research in the Data Mining field (is more fashionable to say I'm Data Scientist).  I work on a wide variety of subjects since the field is multidisciplinary. However, I can mention three main areas of interest:
  • Text Mining and Higher Order Semantics
  • Social Network Analysis and Mining
  • Data Mining to Improve Health Care Attention
All my research activities are mainly developed with the collaboration of chilean companies and government organizations.  For example: the biggest telecommunications companies, several big supermarket chains, several banks, several clinics and hospitals, the Superintendence of Banks, national consumer service, ministry of health, among many other.

In 2011, I created the Research Center on Business Intelligence (CEINE), with the signature of a 5 years collaboration contract between Movistar S.A. (telecommunications company) and the Faculty of Science Physics and Mathematics from University of Chile.

I teach undergraduate, master and doctoral classes mainly in Business Process Design with IT and Data Science Methods. Since 2014, I'm director of the Master in Business Engineering (MBE).
